Magical Moments: A Guide for Two Moms Traveling to Walt Disney World with a Baby
Welcome to the enchanting world of Walt Disney World, where dreams come true for families of all shapes and sizes. In this blog post, we'll delve into my magical experience as a two moms family embarking on a memorable journey to the most magical place on earth, accompanied by our adorable bundle of joy. As a fellow member of the LGBTQ community and an ex-Cast Member (Disney employee), I understand the importance of creating inclusive and unforgettable vacations for every family. As a former Childless Millennial, I used to dream of the day where I could bring my future children to one of my happy places. Finally, my dream was about to come true. I was going to be able to see Disney through the eyes of my daughter.
Choosing the Right Accommodations:
When planning a trip to Walt Disney World with a baby, selecting the right accommodations is crucial. Consider staying at one of Disney's resorts that are accommodating to the needs of parents with infants. Many resorts offer convenient amenities such as cribs, baby-proofed rooms, and easy access to transportation, making your stay as comfortable as possible. We were fortunate enough to drive and have our vehicle to drive around property. Of course, one of the major benefits of staying at a Disney resort is their transportation. Still, it was nice to have the freedom to travel to Disney Springs without having to wait for a bus or have to fold down our stroller and carrying it on the bus. We did take advantage of the Disney transportation and saved money on daily parking.
Navigating the Parks:
Walt Disney World consists of four theme parks, each with its own unique charm. As moms with a little one, it's essential to plan your days strategically to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. Take advantage of the Rider Switch service, allowing one mom to experience an attraction while the other stays with the baby, then swapping using a Lightening Lane, without waiting in line twice.
Baby Care Centers:
Disney understands the needs of families, and their Baby Care Centers are a testament to this commitment. These centers provide a quiet and comfortable space for moms to nurse, change diapers, and attend to other baby-related needs. Located in each park, these centers are a haven for parents seeking a moment to recharge.
Entertainment for All Ages:
Walt Disney World offers a plethora of attractions suitable for guests of all ages, including infants. From gentle rides like "it's a small world" to character meet-and-greets, there's no shortage of entertainment for your little one. Be sure to check height requirements for rides, and use Rider Switch when necessary.
Dining Delights:
Exploring the diverse dining options at Walt Disney World can be a delightful part of your trip. Many restaurants offer kid-friendly menus and accommodate dietary restrictions. Advanced dining reservations are recommended. Reservation windows open 60 days prior to your arrival date. It is especially important to reserve early for popular character dining experiences. We were really lucky to snag a last-minute Storybook Dining with Snow White. The price per Adult was $65 plus tax and gratuity, and they included a meal of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables for our baby who was under 1, at no additional charge. Our little princess enjoyed meeting Snow White and the Evil Queen, but cried when meeting Dopey and Grumpy. Every family is different, so keep that in mind when booking a pricey dinner experience.
Capturing Memories:
Documenting your journey is an integral part of any Disney vacation. Take advantage of Disney PhotoPass services, capturing professionally taken photos throughout the parks. These moments will serve as timeless mementos of your family's magical adventure. I recommend pre-purchasing Memory Maker for a less expensive price. It is still available for purchase during and up to 45 days after you have returned home from your trip.
Embarking on a Walt Disney World vacation as two moms with a baby is a testament to the inclusivity and magic that Disney strives to provide. By planning strategically, embracing the unique offerings for families, and cherishing every moment, you're sure to create memories that will last a lifetime. As a fellow member of the LGBTQ community and a travel enthusiast, I'm here to celebrate the diversity of families and help you plan a truly fabulous vacation at the most magical place on earth.
